1. Introduction
This Cookie Policy explains how Superparent Labs Limited (“Superparent,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) uses cookies and similar tracking technologies on our website at superparent.io and the rest of the Service. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.
By using our Service, you agree to the use of cookies as described here. Where local law requires consent for non-essential cookies, we only set those after you opt in via our cookie banner.
2. What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make sites work, to make them work more efficiently, and to provide information to the site owners. We also use related technologies like local storage and pixels/tags; references to “cookies” in this policy include those.
Cookies can be first-party (set by superparent.io) or third-party (set by a service we use, like an analytics provider). They can also be session cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or persistent (stay until they expire or you delete them).
3. Cookies We Use
We group cookies into three categories:
- Essential: Required for the site to function — for example, remembering your cookie choices and keeping pages secure. These cannot be turned off and are set without consent because the site cannot work without them.
- Analytics: Help us understand how Superparent is used so we can fix bugs and improve features. We use PostHog and Hotjar in this category. These are only set after you give consent via the cookie banner.
- Marketing: Used to measure the performance of our marketing campaigns and, where relevant, to show you Superparent ads on other sites. Only set after you give consent.
4. Specific Cookies
Below is a non-exhaustive list of the cookies we currently use. The list may change as we add or remove services — the categories above always govern.
Essential
- sp_cookie_consent (first-party, 1 year) — stores your cookie preferences so we don’t ask again on every page load.
- Authentication cookies (first-party, session) — when you sign in to the Superparent app, our auth provider (Clerk) sets a secure session cookie. Required for the app to know who’s signed in.
Analytics
- ph_* (first-party / third-party, up to 1 year) — set by PostHog to record anonymous product analytics like pages viewed, features clicked, and aggregate funnels.
- _hjSessionUser_*, _hjSession_* (third-party, 1 year / 30 minutes) — set by Hotjar to recognise returning visitors and stitch session recordings or heatmaps.
Marketing
- _fbp (third-party, 90 days) — set by Meta if we run a Facebook/Instagram campaign, to measure ad performance.
- _gcl_au (third-party, 90 days) — set by Google to measure conversions from Google Ads.
5. Third-Party Cookies
Some cookies on our site are set by third-party services we use. These third parties have their own privacy and cookie policies and we encourage you to review them. The main third parties relevant to cookies are:
- PostHog — product analytics.
- Hotjar — heatmaps and anonymised session recordings.
- Meta (Facebook/Instagram) — advertising measurement (only if you opt into marketing cookies and we run an active campaign).
- Google — advertising measurement and font delivery.
- Clerk — authentication.
6. Managing Your Preferences
You can change your cookie choices at any time:
- On Superparent: open to re-open the preferences panel. Your choice is saved for one year (or until you clear cookies). The setting is also linked from the footer of every page.
- In your browser: all major browsers let you block or delete cookies. Doing so may affect parts of the Service that rely on essential cookies — for example, the Service may not remember you’re signed in. Browser help pages: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge.
- Opt-out tools: for industry opt-outs of behavioural advertising see youronlinechoices.eu (EU) and aboutads.info (US).
Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of any processing carried out before you withdrew it.
7. Do Not Track
Some browsers send a “Do Not Track” (DNT) signal. There is no industry standard for how sites must respond to DNT, so we do not currently change behaviour based on this signal. We do, however, honour your choices made through our cookie banner and the controls listed above.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time — for example, when we add or remove a third-party service. We will post the new version on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. Where the changes are material we may also notify you via the cookie banner or by email.
